Start with Marklin digital
Hallo!
I've made a track plan for new layout with Raily 2. I would like to run my trains (5 pcs), turouts and signals in digital technic, but I don't know how to wire it.
Is there somebody that would like to help me?
with kind regards Kafanar

Hello Kafanar,
do you want to buy more trains ? Till 5 trains you can use the Märklin DELTA System, but it hasn`t got so many functions like the Märklin Digital System. I give you a tip: Don`t use that system, i`t isn`t modern any more. Other systems are better. Do you want to control your trains with the computer ? Then, you need an Interface. When you want to control with the two ways, you can use the Intellibox from Uhlenbrock. It has got an INterface, handcontrolers and a switch to (stellen, was heißt das auf Englisch ? ). But it costs a lot.

Dear Kafanar,
as I understand you still have a Märklin system and want to continue with it. Using that 3-rail system is much easier than a 2 rail system for some reasons especially for beginners. I wonder why you don't have or use the included hand-books or informations you got with your system, but maybe the following link (in English) will help you. You also will find a mail-adress of this Märklin expert and a lot of links and explanations:
http://home.arcor.de/dr.koenig/digital/
So hopefully it helps you a little bit but I think a lot of Märklin fans will help you at this forum.
Best regards
Hartmut

Hi everybody!
I forgot to tell, that I have some Markin C-traks (I bought my Marklin stuff from a friend, and I don't have any documentation beside), and momentarily I have 2 Marklin AC trains without digital decoder (3-rail system) and 4 Mehano DC trains (2-rail system) without digital decoder also. I intend to replace Mehano trains with Marklin AC trains with digital decoder (3-rail system), and upgrade those from Marklin with decoders. But it will take some time, because these trains are not cheap
At first I would like to prepare my layout, that there won't be problems when I'll start it in digital ( if this is possible at all ). In the final stage, I'd like to run everything with my PC. You know: trains (speed and direction, lights, horns), lights in passenger coaches, signals beside track, turnouts etc. The problem is that I don't know much about signals and where and how to set and wire them.
I've allmost forget!!! I live in Slovenia
See you soon, Kafanar

hi kafanar
......... easy question ...
what`s your age ????
I would start the way into the digital trainsystem very easy .........
step one : buy one ore two decoder for a lokomotive I prefer TAMS-decoder LD-W-1
step two : buy the Intellibox from the company Uhlenbrock
step three : buy some point-decoders for turnouts and signals from Tams
if this is running ......... you can start into the next step
don`t jump from a little car like SMART into a fast Ferrari from Michael Schumacher ........ it doesn`t make sence ..........
make ´step by step ` and slow .............
I think it is the best braimstorming for you

Hi Cinci:
3 good steps to start with,
but 3 times the same problem: buy, buy, buy.
@Kafanar
If ya wanna realize your layout, but ya dont know
how to do it the way to run analog and digital I try to
explain it the easy way: separate the tracks into different
cirquits as ya would do it with any analoge system.
Laterwhile ya can reconnect the tracks and use a
digital control center.
Another easy solution is to "BUY" a Märklin Digital-Start-Package.
But its a question of your budget
