Hi Choobacca,
this depends on what you are planning to do. If you are going to build a permanent layout, it would be better to choose some track without ballast attached to it (like Tillig Elite, Roco Line, and several others) and add the ballast yourself.
For a temporary layout, e.g. on the floor, the ballasted tracks are useful, though. As for the connection, Fleischmann Profitrack as well as Trix C-track are both quite secure. In case of an isolated connection between two tracks the C-Track is more secure, because the latching is still used and only the electrical parts isolated, whereas for the Profi-Track the latching connector is to be substituted by a piece of plastic which is without latch and thus liable to detach itself with usage. On the whole, although I am using Profitrack for temporary layouts (
"Teppichbahning"), I should prefer the C-Track over the Profitrack.
You should also consider the Kato Unitrack, which is available in H0, too, although at the time being the variety of turnouts and crossings offered is quite limited, but the price as well as the large curved tracks makes it an alternative.
I hope this helps rather than confuses you...
Best regards
Holger
